We have done this the slow way.

Every one of us has sat with a company name and a deadline, and asked someone to "download all the documents from MCA and send them over". A junior on the team, a paralegal, a clerk at the firm that helps us, or ourselves, late in the evening.

It takes half a day. Five documents at a time, a captcha for each, a wait between every zip, and a folder of a hundred and forty zips to open at the end.

And the documents matter: every due diligence, every credit file, every dispute starts with what a company has filed.

The tools we tried

The services that offer to do this for you take days to deliver, or ask for your MCA user id and password, or stop answering when something goes wrong. We used them, and we kept going back to doing it by hand.

So we built our own

ROCwork is a Chrome extension. You log in to MCA as you always have and pay MCA as you always have. ROCwork takes it from there: every document, sorted into MCA's own folders, with an index, in minutes.

We never ask for your MCA user id or password. It works from your own browser, in your own logged-in tab, and nothing about the documents passes through us. Confidentiality was the first design decision, not a feature we added later.

What comes next

ROCwork is the first of a set of tools for the people who work with company records every day. More of the tedious parts of MCA work will get the same treatment. We will say what is coming when it is ready, not before.
